We are sitting ourselves to death”.
Seems pretty aggressive, right? But there is evidence that sitting for long periods of time increase the risk of some cancers, heart disease & type 2 diabetes.
Long term sitting effects are not reversible through exercise or other good habits.
Ways to avoid the new “sitting is the new smoking”:
- Get up at least once every hour and walk around
- Workout at your desk. Get a mini stationary bike
- Sit on a stationary ball
- Walk during lunchtime
- Get a standing desk (Business Office Outfitters can help you purchase one.)
- Take the stairs every few hours
Don’t be a walking time bomb. Be proactive with your health and move.
